Calendar Game
Convert dates between the Ethiopian and Gregorian calendars from memory. Every answer is followed by the rule behind it — the year offset, where Meskerem 1 fell, what Pagume did that year — so a wrong one is worth as much as a right one.
The rule
The Ethiopian year opens on 11 September — 12 September before a Gregorian leap year — and runs as twelve months of thirty days, then ጳጉሜን, a thirteenth month of five days, or six in a leap year. So from Meskerem until the Gregorian year turns, add 7 to the Ethiopian year; from 1 January onwards, add 8.
