Read the figures used in Ethiopian manuscripts, on church calendars and over doorways. Every wrong answer is taken apart rather than counted against you — the point is to leave knowing the rule.
The rule
There is no zero and no place value. Numbers are built by addition and multiplication: ፳፬ is twenty and four, and ፻ multiplies whatever comes before it. So 2024 is ፳፻፳፬ — twenty hundreds, then twenty-four.
