Amharic Encryption

Encryption in Amharic is ምስጠራ (mistira): turning a message into something only the person with the key can read.

Hide a message inside Ethiopic script using an Amharic phrase as the key. Whoever reads it needs the same phrase to get the message back.

Key phrase

Pick a key phrase first — the same one is needed to read the message back.

How it works

  1. 1.

Choose a key phrase. Both sides need the same one — send it separately from the message.

  2. 2.

Type your message and press Encrypt. Every character is shifted into Ethiopic script.

  3. 3.

Send the result. To read it back, switch to Decrypt and use the same key phrase.

This is a puzzle, not security. It is a substitution cipher with a short key, which anyone determined can break. Use it for fun and for hiding a message from a casual glance — never for anything that would actually harm you if read.
